“Culture and Faith” Lecture at Azusa Pacific University (Video)

 In Pei Blog

I was invited to give a guest lecture on the topic of “culture and faith” at my friend Professor Sarah Moon’s “Cultural Psychology” class, at Azusa Pacific University.  I thought I’d post a video of it (includes a short film clip, the slides and audio from the lecture), as a potential resource.  I prepared it as an introduction to anybody, to the questions “What is culture?  What is contextualization?  How does that impact what we do in concrete ministry terms?  Why is culturally-aware leadership important, and what are the consequences if we don’t engage it?”  Hope you enjoy it!

Adrian, this is super old but I’d saved it to listen for a long time and finally got around to it. Enjoyed it – especially (and predictably) the Bruce Lee intro. I also didn’t know you lived in England. I also smiled when I heard myself in your talk. One note though, the kid didn’t whisper, he was excited. “Yo! That’s Yao Ming’s cousin!”

    • Glad you enjoyed this talk, Danny. Just so you know, I don’t use “Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story” in every presentation… just the ones you listen to. : ) And thanks for giving me the Yao Ming story. Every time I tell it, it seems to get a laugh. I’m sure it was funnier in person though. Thanks for listening and writing in! Go Spurs.
